The Chiefs remain the NFL’s lone undefeated team after beating the Houston Texans 42-34 on the road. The Chiefs outgained the Texans 450-392 in total yardage and had possession for nearly double the time. Alex Smith was tremendous going 29-37 for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Kareem Hunt rushed for 107 yards on 29 carries. Hunt leads the NFL in rushing yards and has been one of the best stories this season. The Chiefs were torched for five touchdowns by rookie sensation DeShaun Watson. Kansas City has the 4th best turnover margin (+6) in the league. The Chiefs (+53) rank 2nd in the NFL in point differential.
The Steelers continue to underperform as they lost 30-9 at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Steelers outgained the Jaguars 371-313 in total yardage but five turnovers were too much to overcome. Ben Roethlisberger was terrible going 33-55 for312 yards and five interceptions. Roethlisberger was demoralized after the loss hinting that he “might not have it” anymore. The Steelers also struggled to run the football gaining only 70 yards on 20 carries. Antonio Brown was the lone bright spot with 10 catches for 157 yards. The Steelers had no answer for Leonard Fournette who rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns. The Steelers (+10) rank 14th in the NFL in point differential.
Alex Smith has thrust his name into MVP consideration with his sparkling 11 TD/0 INT ratio. The Steelers are among the NFL’s most talented teams but they have some embarrassing losses. Ben Roethlisberger looked lost last week throwing a career high: five interceptions. Kansas City’s balanced offensive attack has led them to leading the league in points per game (32.8). The Chiefs will take care of the football and win this game at home.
